So during our trip to Hawaii last summer I spent all of my free time practicing and studying for my CFI checkride. After getting back I’ve been flying so much that I haven’t been posting anything at all. After posting my yearly ForeFlight recap I realized that there were a bunch of Hawaii pictures that we uploaded, but never got around to posting!
First up is going to be all of the images Bevin took and uploaded.
Click here for a quick stroll down tropical memory lane!: Bevin goes back to Hawaii? The living room of our house! No AC here, just open the doors! The squawkening continues on schedule.Waiting to go on our plantation tour. Apparently there will be rum. Emily is excited. As usual on the island you’re really not sure if you’re going to have a great afternoon or get soaking wet.Bevin took a panorama of the parking lot.A fruit of unknown variety. (It was explained to us,I’ve forgotten.)
I’m told by a reliable source that this is actually a cashew fruit, and that rings a bell, but also appears to be correct! The actual cashew is in the bottom black part there!
This is how pineapples are grown! They hopped off the truck we were touring on, grabbed one, and we got to eat it!I really liked these trees.Banana! We played frisbee with the piglets throwing tortillas for them to chase. Later, delicious Pork was had for dinner. Try not to think about it.Touring through the plantation learning about all the various things they grow. (Sadly I’ve forgotten what each of these were…)Walking through this cool boardwalk area to get to where some of us will be tasting some rum. (Emily continues to be very excited.)The jungle back here in this valley is just an unreal blend of greens. It used to be farmland, and simply by not pruning it the jungle simply took back over.Another pano of the back porchSome kind of Taro bun with taro filling I think. We’re at a chocolate plantation, about to go on a tour! The cocoa tea here was unreal.Giant bamboo makes the nicest sounds in the breeze.Really cool flowers hanging down from this treeEverything at this plantation has been planted and cultivated intentionally. It’s so pretty.More beautiful greenery.Red bamboo! This is chocolate. It does not taste like chocolate. And this is how the coffee plant grows.Further pineapple adventures.Walking through the plantation to the next stop, where we’ll be tasting cocoa beans roasted different ways. Also delicious ice-pops to help stay cool. I forget what type of fruit it was, but it was nice and tart!Further cocoa trees. And more bamboo, clacking gently in the breeze. The scale of it is not well conveyed here. Some of those were as big around as Josh’s bicep at least.Look, we can’t help but toast croissants and put fruit on them. It’s basically illegal NOT to with fruit this good. The hamburger place had a porch-kitty.Hawaiian shaved ice. With cream on top. Also taro flavored, because Bevin. Can you tell Bevin likes Taro? You’d definitely be able to if you could see the filling of the donut.
And that’s everything Bevin chose to upload at the time!
Look for more exciting pictures soon after Josh goes through his camera and uploads whatever hasn’t been uploaded yet!
