Filbert arrives in style!

Heard some rumbling outside, it must be that time!

That looks promising! Yep, there’s Filbert hanging out on the tail there! You can also see the tiny American flag I bought for a dollar at home depot. Probably best to be patriotic in these parts, but really I bought it to make it look a bit more like our house was occupied and not potentially for sale still.

There’s our Filbert, hanging out on the tail there. Looks good so far, pretty dang dirty though so will need a good cleaning to be sure.

Sadly arrival was just 10 minutes too late to make it to the car spa. So Filbert gets cleaned tomorrow and then we’ll be extra certain there are no issues from transit.

The guy who drove the truck with Filbert onboard makes the trip twice a month, Portland to Dallas/Austin/Houston and then back home. Lots of miles on the road, but he really likes the company and has been doing it for 7 years. Nice to know the relo company found good companies for us, I have no complaints about that, so far, even if dealing with the relocation company itself is a bit laborious sometimes.

Grabbing some sushi for dinner.

Was not expecting to find soy sauce in this packaging. Very amused.

Back at home the refrigerator has completed it’s 24 Hour chill-down cycle. Tomorrow: grocery shopping?

We’ve got appliances!

Car arrives hopefully tomorrow or Thursday. Mattress is arriving tomorrow, and our moving van is now scheduled to arrive Saturday! (did they drive all the way from Portland in first gear? Hopefully that means everything is nice and safe. 😂)

Gonna be able to spend our first night here soon! So exciting!

(I’m about halfway done rewiring all the network/coax, should be done with that today, so we’ll be all set on the internet side by time things are here too! Home sweet Wi-Fi!)

Hashtag Hobos?

We are technically homeless. All we own is here:All else is in the clutches of either Alaska airlines, or one of several possible moving companies. A bit of an odd feeling actually. I don’t have keys to any house or apartment, and everything is in these bags. It’s actually sort of liberating in a weird way. Not that I’m not hoping that everything goes smoothly and all our stuff arrives safely. 😂The move yesterday went well. Our moving crew was great, they packed up all our stuff with great care, even though it turned out to be more stuff than they were told to expect, and their company gives them some really shitty equipment to work with. (seriously, I went to safeway and bought packing tape that actually worked.) Real troopers though. We filled a whole truck. Whaaat? Also, the car got picked up Tuesday. Byeeee filbert! So, here we are, 4.5 hours of sleep later, ready to get on our plane. No nap for me though, can’t afford to risk missing this flight. Coffee time! Will report in several time zones from now.

Well, we’re moving to a Carolina it seems..

No, not North, nor South. Not that crazy. But almost. Instead, it’s a “Carolina IV” floorplan by Bloomfield homes, in Justin TX. If all goes well, 27 days from today it’s ours!

The post is weighty, and full of images.

We also have a number of 360-degree photos, but the 360 degree viewer plugin seems to be even more broken than before. I’m looking into a way to display those here, so hopefully there will be more to see soon!

We’re incredibly excited. These quick photos don’t do it justice, but it’s what we had time for. So much to do, and so many papers to sign! (And we’re told that this isn’t even close to the amount to be dealt with at the end of the month!)

Aaaaaand we’re off to our next meeting!
